Lombok has stolen a piece of my heart • I was kindly invited by my friends at @theshelterproject to fly to beautiful Lombok & visit the North villages that suffered mass devastation from the 2018 tragic Earthquakes • @theshelterproject are currently aiming to build 100 Earthquake proof shelters to provide a safe, comfortable & community driven solution for those that are awaiting a permanent government supported plan • Thankfully, there are a few organisations helping the island, but sadly, some villages are off grid with less access • @Theshelterproject are targeting these areas & have teamed up with the PARC (Primary aid for remote communities) Medical Van to ensure that these villages have the support they need to gain access to experienced doctors • This natural disaster has slowed down tourism in a large way, hundreds of people still remain jobless • Whilst visiting Lombok and travelling around the island i realised how beautiful and untouched it still is • How raw the people and landscapes are • I encourage adventurers to consider visiting this amazing island again (Of course prepare yourself wisely & be smart 😊) • It truly made me miss the way Bali was back in the day • Nature in abundance, empty secret beaches, waterfalls, rice fields...
