The day has finally arrived! International Polar Bear Day!

Every year the sea ice is slowly declining. Polar bears use this sea ice as a means to travel and hunt. This ice is very detrimental to a PB’s survival. The slippery seals that make up a good portion of these bears’ diet can easily swim faster than a big bulky bear making them hard to catch. The polar bears use the ice to walk on and sneak up on the seals hiding under the ice and snatch them up.

Preserving the sea ice means saving the polar bears!
Let’s learn how YOU can save them!
1) Take the #thermostatchallenge
Turn down your thermostat a few degrees to save some energy! Bundle up in a blanket and with your favorite stuffed polar bear!
2) Use your car less as it emits exhaust and fumes into the air that in large amounts can melt the sea ice. Instead ride a bike, take a bus or subway, or even walk!
3) Share with your friends on social media about #internationalpolarbearday
