A honey #bee gathering pollen from a #russianSage bush, photographed in 2009 in my backyard. There was a small hive near my place and these bees would return like clockwork each year to collect from the various flowers and bushes. To get the shot I stood patiently in the sage among a small swarm. Bees won’t actively seek you out to sting you if you’re slow and methodical, they’re interest is focused on the flowers. Lit with 2 @NikonUSA SB800’s and a 105 macro lens.

@trepczykbarbara Keith probably won't get a chance to answer your question. He poured lots of light of the bee and flower with the strobes, and exposed for that. The background was so underexposed that it looks black. He may have helped it get that way during post.

So hope people are going out and purposefully buying plants that attract bees and butterflies , so so vital , that we do, it seems such a basic concept I know
