For your consideration...
“In the past, only a black patent leather shoe was allowed. These days, I almost always recommend a velvet slipper. It looks incredible with a tuxedo,” says Mario Mirabella, a Brooks Brothers Personal Shopper, who has dressed countless guests for formal events such as the Oscars, on bending the black-tie rules. #BlackTie #BestDressed #AcademyAwards #RedCarpetStyle

The old rule was you could wear them if you were the host. Most people don’t host BT events at their homes anymore so I think it’s legit to wear them when it’s your wedding or at an event that you’re heading. One thing though that I learned a few NYE’s back was that if it’s snowy/salty, you’ll be constantly worrying about them getting ruined instead of enjoying yourself so you may want to buy galoshes as well just in case.

Forgive my ignorance in asking this, but do the slippers available for purchase have the large ‘BB’ on them too, or is that just for display purposes?

Outside of black tie, there are some great pics of JFK rocking velvet slippers with casual clothes at home during Christmas.

No way I could pull off velvet slippers, no matter the occasion lol. Regardless, best clothes money can buy. Love BB

Call me old fashioned, but I guess I’ll stick to the good old patent leather shoes. Thank you very much.

I really should get those slippers. I’ve always had an affinity for those initials.
