Well, friends, it’s been real! I hope you’ll come find me over @_thegrandapt (if you do, please say hello!). I’ll leave you with my happy place: my kitchen. It’s where I spent most of my renovation budget, and where I spend most of my time. I love, love my floors. They may not be for everyone, but they certainly are for me. That’s an important lesson in renovation, I think: do what will make YOU happy. If you’re renovating for resale value, more power to you. But if you’re renovating for yourself, TRUST YOUR GUT. In the heat of my renovation, I was so overwhelmed. My contractor saved the day every day, telling me when he thought I was making a mistake (these floor for example), helping me stay positive when things went wrong, and reminding me to breathe. From the moment I put in an offer to literally the day I moved in, I had this feeling that someone was going to pop up and take it all away from me. “Just kidding, Sarah!” They’d say. “You don’t know what you’re doing! You don’t get to have this!” But looking back, I realize that even if I didn’t quite know what I was doing, I knew how to make my house a home. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.
