We bid farewell to one of the forefathers of Italian postmodernism, the architect and designer Alessandro Mendini, who died aged 87. Seen here in Wallpaper* August 2006 issue at his Milan studio, Mendini was best known for his playful and witty creations. He not only produced architecture, graphics, furniture, interiors and paintings, but was editor-in-chief of Domus magazine from 1980 to 1985, and in 1976, co-founded Studio Alchimia with Ettore Sottsass.
