Training a fox!
I have missed the last two training days, as I was out of town for work (my professional/paying job)...today, I made sure I was in town to be a part of #trainingafox day!! Melissa, our volunteer trainer, is an animal trainer that has been training all sorts of amazing mammals for over 13yrs. As most of you know, I am always asking for some sort of help/volunteer/sponsorship/donations. Starting a non-profit is very difficult.... and this no -profit has mostly been supported financially, emotionally and physically by just the two of us. We have been blessed with some great volunteers and some not so great folks that gave us empty promises. Many to our overall detriment. I try not to focus on those folks- I just put them and their energy in with the fox poop and focus on our mission and finding awesome, committed people who want to work with the center- who are interested in the animals and not focused in their own ego. Well, one of those people is Melissa!! She truly enjoys working with them... and they are quickly falling in love with her... (well, she does have a bag of treats!!)

Today’s session was so much fun for me... I am not a very good dog trainer... I don’t have the right energy... Dave is great, but swamped.... Melissa has that same energy... she is so patient, positive, encouraging and consistent with them.... but even still, I don’t think I stopped laughing the entire session today. These kids are so darn smart, but so incredibly different from each other. .
Melissa is currently training “station”- so they have to go somewhere and put their feet on it... we are using this gorgeous @Target log.... viktor was being his cheeky, charming self today... Maksa was the superstar of the day... and Mikhail was thinking ahead... trying to anticipate the command.... .
The sessions are short... think very short attention span.... but the progress is evident!! .
