#DoxThrash developed the carborundum mezzotint printmaking technique while working at the Fine Print Workshop of Philadelphia in the 1930s. He used the velvety tones created by the technique to capture the beautiful complexions of his sitters in a series of arresting portraits. #BlackHistoryMonth
