This guy had some really exciting plans for this week, which are all collapsing under the weight of the snow. We literally cannot get out of our driveway and there are no foreseeable plans, at any level of government or community, to plow our street. Ouch.
Growing up in Toronto, the *most* exciting thing for a kid in summer was a trip to our local amusement park, Canada's Wonderland. The anticipation was excruciating, but like, in a good way. It was basically summer Christmas.
But once, I recall vividly, my eyes flew open the morning of, not to sunshine, but to torrential rains. Wonderland was not happening that day, and it was one of my first truest heartbreaks. And 30 years later? I can still remember the sting.
I try to temper my adult anticipations accordingly. Because still - sometimes Wonderland gets rained out. But it never really gets any easier.
