Video by @gabrielegalimbertiphoto | Navigating the waterways of Makoko waterfront community in Lagos, Nigeria. Makoko’s nickname is the "Venice of Africa.” It is a large, low-income community with more than 50 percent of its population on water. The houses on water are supported by wooden stilts, driven deep into the waterbed. Each house hosts between six and 10 people. The principal economic activities of Makoko are salt making, sand dredging, and fishing. Thanks Benedicte Kurzen for bringing me there! #nigeria #makoko #lagos #africa #water #veniceofafrica
