Falling comes with the territory when you’re a figure skater. I remember being 5 years old when I had my first skating lesson. I’ll never forget the coach telling me that the lesson was solely about falling. I wish my parents had a VHS home video reaction of my face because I was shocked. I wanted to learn the fancy spins and jumps that I admired from watching the Olympics, NOT falling. But I now know how smart the coach was - she knew that I’d be falling a lot. Trust me, I fell so much as a beginner skater (I have scars for evidence!). And even when I was 5-time world champion I still fell a lot but the most important thing is to get up and keep going! #wegetup @usfigureskating
