Marsha P. Johnson was an AIDS activist and advocate for gay rights. She was a prominent figure in the Stonewall Riots of 1969 and is credited with throwing the first brick. In 1970, she co-founded Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (S.T.A.R.) with Sylvia Rivera — a shelter where trans people could live in safety. A trailblazer and “queen mother,” Johnson paved the way for many after her. #inspirationwednesday
