Many people believe celebrities and influencers are talking about their issues and insecurities in order to grow a following, gain likes, and receive money from brand deals.
I personally think it's amazing that people are using their platform to talk about issues that are important to them, be it acne, eating problems, or mental health battles. Not only does it mean you create a supportive online network of like-minded people, it can help others suffering know they aren't alone. I also find that opening up about my insecurities has released their power over me as there's a real strength in vulnerability. I think it's very cynical to suggest people are only doing it for attention and personal gain. I'm really fascinated by the cynism, but what do you think?
