On this day in 1993, Al Gore (@algore) was inaugurated as the 45th Vice President of the United States. Though his political and environmental positions have been polarizing, what I appreciate about Vice President Gore is that he has created conversation. I value listening to others’ views and experiences, what drives them to make their decisions, and how they believe those actions will impact the future. Because regardless of political affiliation, that is the shared human experience.
I have been privileged to photograph and document change makers through my work with National Geographic, and I learn more about myself and the human condition with every sitting. In every exchange as subject and photographer, I’ve grown both as an artist and as an active participant in the global community. Thank you VP Al Gore.
