I never planned on being a professional climber. It took a lot of people telling me I was good enough before I believed it myself. I’m not proud of that. The main reason I get to do what I do now is that since the age of 6 I just wanted to go climbing the next day. And I wanted to be better the next day. Not for any particular reason, no future goal or ambition. Just because. It’s what got me to the gym four days a week to boulder on my own as a kid. It’s what got me my first plane ticket leaving the UK at age 18 to experience different rock.
