フィラデルフィア美術館のインスタグラム(philamuseum) - 1月16日 10時35分
In preparation for the reopening of the galleries of Chinese art, Jacklyn Chi (Mellon Fellow in Paper Conservation) is treating this vivid watercolor painting of a seated Emperor with a court official on pith paper. Jacklyn is repairing tears, reattaching fragments, and filling losses in the paper. Pith paper, only grown in south China, has a velvety texture that makes watercolors appear to glow. Keep an eye out for this striking painting when the galleries reopen in early February.
