Everything’s coming up #roses: The 1920s were a period of blossoming happiness for Marc #Chagall, who returned to #Paris after a nearly decade-long exile in the Soviet Union, this time bringing with him his new wife Bella and their daughter. It was around this time that the artist took up the subject of colourful, rich #bouquet’s of #flowers, a theme that he would then endlessly explore in his dream-like paintings. Here, the #foliage bursts out of the blue #vase, filling the entire #canvas like a #firework explosion, with glimpses of a #surreal landscape containing an embracing couple and a circle of four animals.
