??????????????????This was the last piece of 2018 , this Skull nearly destroyed me.. I painted it 7 times. I kept finding flaws and I would just eclipse a whole area of the piece. Also its difficult to build depth and maintain control over aerosol and mix oils and Inks at this scale.. it was a challenge for me.. WHAT I LEARNED:
I remember why I do what I do.. I refused to give up.. I had painted it 6 times then the night before the collector was coming I painted it again.. I thought I’d lost my mind then.. I said “ this is it, this is when you define yourself, either stop now it’s 6:45am call them , tell them your painting you have waited for 6 months that your suppose to pick up in 6.5 hours is not done and may never be.. the painting you already paid in full for.. or push yourself for those last few inches you need.. no one will be here to applaud or adore you, it’s simply you vs you.. trust your hand don’t let your mind betray you and finish this or die “
I woke up with 1hr till the collector arrived and I was beaming, I felt more accomplished that morning than I had the whole year .. I reflected and was ultimately fulfilled.. it’s not about the skull it’s about not giving up and not letting my doubts strangle my knowledge and talent.. doubts will destroy your work .. you have to realize everything you have done up to this point in your existence lead you here.. take that knowledge convert the knowledge to action make the ART which is in you into reality..
