Tate has gained its first artworks by renowned women’s rights campaigner Sylvia Pankhurst (1882-1960). Pankhurst's paintings documented the poor conditions of women working in factories in 1907, as a way of highlighting the fight for women’s rights. The four artworks will go on display at Tate Britain in 2020.
