Two Chicago police officers were struck and killed by a fast-moving train on Monday evening while responding to a shots-fired call, city officials say. Officers Eduardo Marmolejo, 37, and Conrad Gary, 31, were chasing a suspected gunman when they were hit by a train that may have been moving as fast as 70 mph. "These brave young men were consumed by identifying a potential threat to their community and put the safety of other above their own," said Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson. Investigators recovered a weapon at the scene and apprehended the suspect after the accident.
