Nearly three decades since his passing in 1992, Ian Godfrey has remained something of a well-kept secret within the world of British studio pottery. His miniature architectural follies and landscapes, inhabited by a bestiary of animals and mythical beasts, have a narrative charge that has seen him become quietly influential on a younger generation of artists who are increasingly using clay as a sculptural medium.
