Yuji Ueda’s @yuji____ueda exhibition at Kaikai Kiki Gallery was originally scheduled to go on until December 10th, but we closed it last Saturday, on December 1st. This is because a client who bought much of the works in the show needed them shipped immediately, and in order to do so we had to start packing the works for shipping at once.
Just a few days ago, I had explained the challenging path that led to this exhibition in an Instagram post; the toll of the said challenge on the artist and the gallery was such that we simply couldn’t pass on this sales opportunity. We therefore had to close the exhibition 9 days earlier than scheduled, and I’m sure we have disappointed many of you who were looking forward to visiting the show—but I’m hopeful that some of you will some day have a chance to see the purchased works in person in the collection.

上田勇児さん @yuji____ueda の作品展は、本当は１２月の１０日まで開催予定だったが、先週の土曜日の１２月１日で閉じた。理由は作品を購入した方が、即時シッピングが念頭にあり、それに応えるためには、直ぐに梱包し、送り出す必要があるからだ。数日前に僕のインスタグラムの記事で今回の展覧会開催までの苦労話を書いたばかりだが、その苦労が作家も我々にも度が過ぎていたので、この販売のチャンスを反故する事は出来なかった。
なので、会期を９日間も縮めての展覧会終了で、展覧会を見に来ることを楽しみにしてくれていた人も大勢いたはずだけれども、だけれども、いつの日 か、作品が購入されたコレクション先で誰かの目に触れることもあると思いたい。会期を短縮してしまって申し訳ありません。
