This is one of six Bird-of-Paradise species found ONLY in West Papua, Indonesia, that I have photographed for many years for @ナショナルジオグラフィック. Right now, we have an important chance to help ensure the protection of West Papua’s incredibly rich rain forests. The government of West Papua has declared its intent to be a “Conservation Province” and protect 70% of its land as forest, as well as protect vast marine areas. In December, there will an important vote in the provincial parliament to make this Conservation Province declaration the law. You can help by showing your support!
