Humans have used elephants as beasts of burden for at least 4,000 years. This mahout trained his elephant for harvesting teak in #Myanmar.
After decades of research, scientists have the data to prove that elephants are more intelligent, social, and empathetic than previously understood. Some try to rationalize keeping them in captivity, but it is virtually impossible to make that argument today. I hope that in time, people will find it impossible to believe that we ever kept these magnificent creatures from their natural habitat, which is the wild.
