A lot of us are lucky to live in a world where living out your dream can turn into a reality with enough dedication and passion, but we take for granted all the things that allow us to do just that. This is young Dariel Electrico, an amazing kid and talented dancer I had a chance to become friends with in Cuba. Whether it’s performing, teaching or doing private lessons, he does what he loves every single day to have just enough money to support his mother and pay for the things that he really needs in order to live. He dreams big, but faces more obstacles than a lot of us can even begin to imagine in order to try to fulfill that dream. I was lucky enough to create with him and for that this is my favorite photo I took this year. It’s also the best way I know how to bring light of the situation and the struggle many talented youth face, not just in Cuba, but all over the world.
