Our sale of #Irish Art from the Collection of Brian P. Burns includes eight works by Roderic O’Conor. Posthumously regarded as one of Ireland’s most international artists, he was an innovator and a pioneer, a collaborator of Paul Gauguin, and at the centre of the French avant-garde. O’Conor’s colour palette was revolutionary in the intensity of its saturation, predating and anticipating the Fauves’ modernist use of colour. ?here is ‘Romeo and Juliet’, painted circa 1898-1900, alongside two vibrant seascapes.
