This morning, #nicothemutt fell into the canal. She slipped off the wet canal wall when running from another dog and fell in with a splash. My emergency plan (conceived during my many prior walks past the canal) was getting her to swim to the next stairs leading down to the water, but that was about 40m away so she was not having it. Instead, she stopped and stood on a stone in the water, trying to get up the wet wall. So I lay down and stretched my arm down and she stretched herself, someone held me so I wouldn’t fall in either, I barely managed to grab her neck and then pulled her out. A bit much for a Wednesday morning but then it’s just an odd week, isn’t it.
