We’re happy to introduce a new photo series called #PeopleofZipp. For 30 years, we’ve designed and manufactured world class carbon fiber wheels in Indianapolis. We’re high tech, but people are our most valuable asset. This occasional photo feature will introduce some of those passionate and hard-working people to you.
Zipp production supervisor Sarah Thang brings to Zipp a collaborative personality, an eye for efficiency, and a deep pride in her work. She remembers riding a bicycle as a girl before leaving her native home in the Chin state of Burma at the age of 19. She started working at Zipp about seven years ago. Sarah works on the carbon cutting tables and wheel pre-form areas of the factory. She started as a production worker, was promoted to production lead, then to production supervisor. Her idea on restructuring our material market saved around $100,000.
Sarah loves hearing that cyclists love their Zipp wheels. “People are having fun with what I make, which makes me feel good.” She’s even started to ride herself, taking part in a relay team for a 24 hour ride to raise money to fight cancer. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her husband and son. She’s also active in her church, helping to cook meals for church events. Her specialty is her mother’s Burmese fish curry. “I love working here,” Sarah says. #PeopleofZipp #ZippSpeed #MadeinIndianapolis
