A lithe beauty from New Delhi, Namita Sunil has already made her way to Fashion Week and editorials as a model signed with Kay Savino Yhome Scouting, but it’s her talents beyond the runway that have people talking. On her popular Instagram account, @vantagold, she provides an in-depth look at current obsessions via drawings, photography, and a glimpse of everything her city has to offer, with plenty of street style wear. “You really can’t define New Delhi fashion,” says Sunil, “It presents itself in the most interesting combinations, a completely western outfit with jhumkis and a bindi, or a kurti and leggings with Adidas Superstars, and so much more happens here.” Introduced to the industry after tuning into FashionTV as a kid, Sunil's interest was fueled by the diversity she saw on screen. “Growing up in India as a brown girl means having to deal with colorism from a very young age and barely seeing any representation of yourself in the media,” said Sunil. “For the first time on FTV, I saw the most stunning black model [and] I was shocked, to say the least. I saw an unapologetic, dark-skinned, beautiful woman absolutely killing it in the outfit she was wearing.
