“I woke up in the hospital to find my mom and dad standing next to my bed in tears. I was in deep pain. As I tried to move, I found out that I had my right leg amputated. It was the worst moment of my life… I was the first girl in a wheelchair to roll onto the basketball court. At the beginning it was difficult but I was determined to learn how to play. I wanted to do more in life and help other children who have suffered from this war. I want to tell everyone that despite the tragedies we pass through, we should never give up.
