Remember when all of us were voting for Dr Gary Richter, the only no-declaw top 10 finalist veterinarian in the 2015 America's Favorite Veterinarian contest, and the @avmavets @avmfdn cancelled the contest because they didn't want Dr Richter to win! ? ??
Can you imagine if something like that happened in these elections! ?
I always believe that humans do better when they know better so I thought I'd look into the 10 finalists and see if any of them stopped declawing.??
The AVMF stated on their website that this contest honored and recognized those entrusted to preserve and protect the health and well-being of animals.
There have been new studies and information since 2015 that show how inhumane and mutilating that declawing is to the health and well-being of a cat so I was optimistic that most of them probably stopped.
I'm sad to say that I was very wrong. 6 of the top 10 vets STILL do toe amputations on cats. ???
