What does it mean to photograph a cat? Does a cat understand representation? Can a cat recognize a picture? Lassry pondered these very questions as he created “Bengal” (2011). In Lassry’s practice, he often references the visual language of stock photography and advertising, while at the same time placing his photographs within frames, allowing the images to better register with the viewer as objects in their own right. #GuggenheimCollection #Guggenheim
