40 YEARS AGO TODAY ~ the wiz, starring my mama @dianaross, @マイケル・ジャクソン, nipsey russell, ted ross, richard pryor, mabel king, and lena horne, premiered on october 24, 1978. directed by sidney lumet with music by @quincydjones and featuring an all black cast, it was the most expensive musical ever made at the time and remains a staple and a source of inspo for the culture. i was so young when they made the movie but i have memories of being on set, meeting lena horne (peep my grandmom in the glasses behind my mom in the Lena pic) and being afraid of some of the extraordinary costumes. cannot believe it’s been 40 years. #thewiz
