Their reasoning, because we came to the beach without men. (? We laughed hysterically about this). Just another example of how quickly people draw conclusions based on their level of consciousness. . Most people are too distorted in their own perceptions of themselves, life, reality...to be able to see clearly who you are. Being at peace with myself at the very least allows me not to internalize other people’s opinions/judgments/behaviors and to have compassion for their apparent disconnection with their own heart. Naturally and yet this is a subtle practice of learning to not take things personal. Far too often people’s interest in you only goes as far as to what benefits them. They only love you as much as they can get something from you. I’ve had the worst “backlash” in life not from people who supposedly “dislike” me but instead from people who feel entitled to me, become obsessive and who have a hard time contending with the fact that I’m clear I don’t owe anyone anything. Not my time, my attention or energy. . Many people have distorted perceptions of me and that’s fine. Because that’s not about me. The most common thing I hear is, wow you’re so different than I thought. I encounter this almost daily in my public work. Often times it’s amusing because it shows how much our minds fill in details that we make up. People say things like, I didn’t realize you were so funny or so “normal”. Sometimes however the lesson is simply...you don’t have to allow someone else’s madness into your heart. . I love that I remain a mystery to people, except the ones who I chose. Those who really take the time to learn me.
