LIFE legend Rita Hayworth was born 100 years ago today in Brooklyn, NY on October 17, 1918. She was one of the top pin-up/glamour girls during World War II and an accomplished dancer and actress - perhaps best known for her role in the 1946 film noir feature "Gilda." She died in 1987 at the age of 68 from complications of Alzheimer's disease. She is pictured here in Monte Carlo, Monaco in 1947.
