There are days when I really wonder how much longer I can keep this up.? The hearing for Dr Glen Weber, the vet that declawed these 3 kitties at an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) hospital in San Ramon, Ca. was last week. Here are some of the things that came out of it according to the owner of these cats. The lawyer for Dr Weber argued that he amputated the toe bones & claws on these cats properly with his guillotine clippers & since he is a relief vet at this AAHA hospital, it wasn't his fault that the bandages were left on these kitties too long. ?? According to the cat owner who had to testify at this hearing, Weber left no instructions to the owner vet of the AAHA hospital about the care for these cats. ?? Dr Weber was caught lying about a few things including about how many declaws he had done after he sold this AAHA hospital to the new vet. Weber said he had done no declaws and the new owner vet said he had done 5-6 declaws. This is just simply appalling since most likely this declawing vet's license to practice will stay in good standing and all charges against him will be dropped. We have to wait around 3 months to hear the verdict. My mom spent hundreds of dollars of her OWN money trying to help this cat owner get justice for these cats since they couldn't afford to pay a lawyer. ? There are literally NO consequences to declawing vets for maiming and harming cats by doing this inhumane, mutilating, and VERY UNNECESSARY procedure. It is SHAMEFUL and APPALLING that AAHA allows declawing at their vet hospitals. THIS IS 2018, NOT THE 1800'S. If AAHA truly cared about the welfare of cats they would NOT allow declawing at their hospitals like they do for non-anesthesia dentals.
