Photo by @katieorlinsky | Fall has arrived, and I am already nostalgic for the wild plants and flowers of lush Arctic summers. This image taken in July on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック in the small city of Chersky, Siberia, where foxtail, fireweed and cotton flowers grow anywhere and everywhere. The town is built entirely on permafrost, with pipes, walkways and buildings all raised above ground in order to function and as a countermeasure to flooding caused by permafrost thaw.
