So i thought I’d get real on here for a sec. Kind of like an introduction - this is me - post for all my new followers. Just kidding, i haven’t had new followers in a while ;) I’ve just recently felt this prompting to share more of my story here...so here we go. Social Media has been this weird space for me the last two years, and the biggest reason for that is the health issues I’ve been struggling through. Health issues are not something new to me. I had seizures (epilepsy) through elementary / jr high, an eating disorder late in high school and into college, food allergies and gut issues following, and after that came the heart and circulatory problems and auto-immune related stuff. (Just to clarify, I currently have POTS, Sjögren's, Raynauds syndrome, and likely some type of small fiber neuropothy...which I’m still trying to figure out). Despite all that and by Gods grace I was somehow able to carry and deliver 3 perfectly healthy babies, but my body has definitely taken a hit. It wasn’t until after i gave birth to Quincy that i started experiencing CHRONIC pain. Different from all the other ‘dysfunction’ stuff I had become accustomed to, this was something entirely new and all-consuming and often times spirit crushing....and something I am still dealing with today. The thing about autoimmune diseases is that you usually appear just fine, healthy even, to the outside world. I for sure have my good days and my bad days, but the one constant this year has been the pain. I can probably count on one hand the number of people that know the whole story. I don’t really like to talk about it for a lot of reasons. I usually end up crying or making someone else feel bad for me or just feel awkward and unsure of what to say. Or I just sound like I’m complaining and even I get tired of the story never changing. When friends ask me how I’m doing its usually just easiest to say ‘I’m good’ and move on from the subject. (continued in comments....)
