I hope one day we get to a point where instead of trying to disprove the survivors of assault, we stand by them. I hope society can understand how rare false reports are, and sympathize with just how difficult saying the words “I was raped” “I was assaulted” are for women and men alike to say.
I hope that when I have children, I don’t have to send them out of the house with pepper spray and remind them to hold their keys right between their fingers.
I hope every woman and man who has been abused, finds a sense of peace amongst the ongoing noise right now.
I hope we can all stand together, lean on each other.
I hope whoever is reading this, whether you have been assaulted or not, knows this: you matter. You are worthy. You are heard and you are loved.
I stand in solidarity with all sexual assault/domestic violence survivors. We will not let the ignorance of others strip us of the right to speak our truths. We will continue to tell our stories and we will continue to shout over the silence. This must stop.
I hope one day, we all can respect and love each other, not as men or women but as humans. And I hope and pray posts like this, don’t need to exist in our future. May we all be kind to one another.
