Women have been integral to botany since the beginning, many of whom worked here in our Mertz Library building from NYBG’s earliest days—from our co-founder, botanist Elizabeth Knight Britton, to our first librarian, Anna Murray Vail. But we need your help to make sure history’s greatest women thinkers and scientists are recognized, and our Wikipedia Edit-a-thon is a great start.
