? Working Together – Contributing to Reef Research in the Maldives ?

This week our marine biologists hosted two representatives from the Marine Research Centre (MRC) that is based in Malé ? MRC is a government run research centre that studies a variety of marine related topics ? including coral reef health ? reef fisheries ? turtles ? and more. The MRC’s current objective is training marine biologists to survey nearby reefs in order to better assess the current status of reefs throughout the Maldives ? They visited our marine team here to show us their methods of surveying fish ? invertebrates ? and coral, which we will continuously monitor over the coming years ? With this information, the MRC can assess how the reefs of the Maldives are changing over time and what that means for the country, both ecologically and economically ☝ We are excited to be working in partnership with the Marine Research Centre and hope that the data we provide helps to progress their research in the coming years ? #velaaprivateisland #maldives #research #reefs #marinelife #science
