Last night we celebrated @iamderay’s new book #OnTheOtherSideOfFreedom and listened as he read a chapter in which he talks about his mother that moved me (and many in the room) to tears. He went on to talk about the work he is doing and how we can all participate in moving towards the equity of justice.

When I feel there’s an injustice I tend to get so angry and become incredulous of others who don’t see it. I immediately go to a place of “the fuck is wrong with you??” In listening to DeRay I learned we need to find a better point of entry that will be effective with the ones we’re trying to get to understand and eventually join in the fight. Instead of attacking (as I am wont to do) with “Why the fuck wouldn’t you want your taxes going to feeding hungry children?” I might wanna ask “What does a 4-year-old need to do to earn a meal?”
Right??
That shit makes sense.
