She cemented her name in legend as founding member of not only the Runaways, but Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. She is a certified feminist icon. Her uncontested prowess in creating heavy guitar music shattered the mould of who could lead a Rock band. Paving the way in solid gold for rebellious women to follow in her steps during a time where machismo Hair Metal reigned supreme. But for songs like Bad Reputation, Dirty Deeds, Cherry Bomb and of course, I love Rock'n'Roll- they became key hits to the soundtrack of many alienated teens.
