Did you know there is a species of fox that lives in the Himalayan mountains in Tibet at heights of up to 16,500 feet ? It is called the Tibetan Sand Fox and it is a very interesting looking foxy. The most distinctive feature of this fox is its head. Scientists are not exactly sure why its head is like this but they have theories. The Tibetan fox’s diet consists largely of Pika, which are relatives of rabbits. The scientists think this head shape helps to get its mouth into the rocky holes the Pikas live in. It is also possible that this head shape is due to the fact that the Tibetan fox is the most carnivorous of all foxes. Or maybe it is because the angular shape of its head helps it blend into the angular shapes in the rocky terrain in which it lives. What ever the reason we think the Tibetan fox is a pretty cool cat....or fox.
