It’s easy to forget what your purpose in life is when you constantly stress about the little things. This photo sent to me is important because it reminded me of two things.
1. I started skating at the Pasadena ice center when I was five years old when I was the “future.” I was constantly told that I needed to switch clubs and represent a bigger club because they had more money and more judges would like me because we represented the same club. To this day, twenty years later, I am still a loyal member of the Pasadena FSC, so it’s pretty cool that they have a trophy in my honor.
2. You can’t expect to be great at your craft all the time. When the money was low and I wasn’t skating well, I took a job at the rink so that I could pay for my skating. During that time, I taught the little girl in the photo at “Learn to Skate” classes so it’s very cool that she’s won the Future Star trophy. Since then, I’ve skated with her in a @starsonice show as well. It’s pretty amazing to go from being a part of a skater’s beginning steps to being in an ice show with them. #nevergiveup #wegetup
