For their Fall Portfolio highlighting #platformgirls working in streetwear, @platform spoke to the inimitable @effiemergs, co-founder of @marrythebrand keep your eyes open for the full feature, and read a sneak below in the meantime — “About a year ago, co-founder @carolynbuch and I, were having a conversation, over coffee, about how some people are obsessed with labels: wearing head-to-toe Gucci / head-to-toe Bape or Supreme. Not understanding why anyone would be so obsessed with a label to the extreme, we said: ‘it’s kinda like they’re married to the brand or something.’That’s how the idea started. Streetwear’s explosion into high fashion has been at an all time high, especially the past two years. We wanted to take this idea of the extreme and the ironic and use it to our advantage by posing a sort of social commentary about current brand name culture. We thought, ‘how funny would it be for someone to just wear something that said ‘Brand’ head-to-toe?’ What is the difference between ‘Brand’ and, say, ‘Supreme’.
