“My past collections have really been about the hedonism of the 1970’s, but this collection is about the groundwork that their mothers did in order for them to be able to have liberation and more freedom,” explains Michael Halpern. This collection started when Halpern sat down with his mother, curious to know more about his maternal grandmother who he never knew. “She was from the Bronx, via Montreal, randomly. And she was a working woman, of course, not this ‘woman of leisure’. But although she was this working woman, she took great care of what she did have and everything was pressed beautifully.
