“All of our income for food and clothes came from this land, but the drought ruined everything,” says 65-year-old Mohammad from Afghanistan’s Daykundi Province. His three-year-old daughter Masouma wants to go to school when she’s older, but he may not be able to afford to send her.
Farmers, whose sole income generation is dependent on agriculture, are finding it difficult to support their children. With one third of the Afghan population struggling to find their next meal, the dry spell is further exacerbating already fragile living conditions for children and families. We are working with partners to meet their urgent needs.
