Formed by an ancient landslide, the largest mass movement slide in Britain, the Old Man stands 50m (165 feet) from its base to its summit. To the north of the Old Man, lies the Quirang, a stunning area of fractured ground and part of the same land formation. Together these rugged features make up some of the world’s most spectacular scenery and are a huge pull for tourists - a key part of the economy on the Isle of Skye. The walk up to the Old Man takes only around 40 minutes and is well worth it, as it has to be seen to be believed.
