The original wild child. Rock’n’Roll’s premier lunatic Keith Moon broke and reconstituted the mould for what a rockstar should be. From smashing his instruments to smithereens to almost killing his bandmates through a number of reckless pranks, Keith Moon really was loon. His destruction of every hotel room he ever encountered is now a vital ritual in the life of a band- sacrificing furniture to death by the blade of an axe or stick of dynamite. He’s the guy to drive a Rolls Royce into a pond. He the guy to throw a telly out of the window. He’s the guy to put dynamite in his drum set. Though the legend and lore surrounding him is vast, the stories of his devil-may-care predilection only enhanced his reputation as a global drumming legend. His distinctive, raw style grew has been forever imitated, and his uniqueness certainly helped to catapult the Who into the stardom we know them to enjoy now. His idiocy helped put Britain at the centre of Rock’n’Roll.
